The ability to observe and become increasingly sensitive is critical to pranayama practice. This work cannot be forced or pushed — doing so creates adverse results and works against the very effects a properly approached practice is meant to deliver.
The face and sense organs serve as a reliable gauge of whether the practice is moving in the right direction. Tension here is a signal, and left unaddressed, it limits the results we're working toward.
This five-class series is built around developing that sensitivity — learning to tune into the face and refine the receptivity of the sense organs as a gateway to the rest of the practice. The effects extend beyond pranayama itself, deepening asana practice as well, and building toward calm, tranquility, and the quieting of the citta.
Join us starting July 2nd for "Cultivating Depth of Pranayama Practice: Sensitizing the Face and Sense Organs” • a 5-class series taught in both English and Italian (🇬🇧 & 🇮🇹) is an intermediate level class.
These monthly Pranayama series are intended to harness the power and benefits of a consistent Pranayama practice. David Meloni begins by refining and building upon the foundational aspects. This guides us in the exploration of intermediate Pranayama techniques by the following methods:
1) Using props to cultivate a deeper connection into the varying physical and mental affects of Pranayama.
2) Create stability and space through actions and attention.
3) Cultivate the art of observation to witness and experience the nuanced and profound aspects and virtues of Pranayama.
