"Linking Actions for Lightness • Anchoring from Feet & Shins" • 4-Class Series (3/4)
What does it mean to truly anchor from the feet and shins — and what becomes possible when you do?
It is one of the most overlooked aspects of practice — not because it is unimportant, but because the feet and shins are so close to the ground that their potential is easy to take for granted.
Most practitioners understand the feet as points of contact with the ground. But in Guruji taught, the feet and shins are active, intelligent participants in the pose. When the right actions are accessed and linked — whether in standing poses, Virasana, Bharadvajasana, Ustrasana, Parighasana, Kapotasana, or Padmasana-related work — they become the foundation from which the whole pose is organized. The effects move upward through the entire body: rigidity and tension give way to stability and lightness, poses become more accessible, and a sense of steadiness and poise emerges naturally.
At an intermediate to advanced level, the ability to link actions is what distinguishes a practice that feels integrated and easeful from one that is working harder than it needs to. This four-class series develops that understanding from the ground up — refining the sensitivity and precision needed to anchor from the feet and shins skillfully, and experience the amplified effects that follow throughout the whole of the practice.
